Wolfenstein 3d
Wolfenstein 3d is still a commercial product and is for sale at the ID Software homepage. There is a shareware version, but this is only the first out of 6 missions. Download it here.
Many sites have the full version of wolfenstein 3d on them, but this is illegal - there is not much anyone can do about it though.
The Wolfenstein 3d source code has been released ages ago, so you can make mods and add on levels for it.
Theoretically if you made a mod of Wolfenstein 3d that was a Windows version, and you only slightly changed the rest of the code, you could probablly distribute it for free as a special custom version.
I am very interested in Wolfenstein 3d for windows and I will get involved in making a port as soon as I learn more about C/++.
How can I get the 'wolf3d -goobers' DOS perameter to work?
This is simple, you just have to make a batch file (.bat) displaying the relivent text - wolf3d -goobers or wolf3d -next. Do this by creating a new text document in Notepad, call it cheats.txt. Then type in the correct text and click 'save as'. Then change the file extension from .txt to .bat. This is now a batch file and should work. Double click on the file and it should load your version of Wolfenstein 3d in cheats mode enabling the above cheats to be used. Note: the .bat file needs to be in the same directory as wolf3d.exe.
Wolf 3d: Getting it to work in a win32 mode. How do I do it?
This is simple, you must go to the MS Dos exe file - wolf3d.exe, and right click on it. Then go to MS Dos options/mode. Click on 'run in MS Dos mode'. This will reboot your PC into MS Dos mode so you can run the game.
